Air-Conditioning Services

Many medical centres rely on central heating and cooling, but a single temperature setting does not always suit every part of a healthcare facility. Different rooms have different heat loads, occupancy levels and clinical requirements. For example, an office on the western side of a building exposed to afternoon sun may require considerably more cooling than a similar office on the eastern side.

Comfort requirements also vary between people. Age, clothing, activity level and gender-related differences in thermal comfort can all influence how warm or cool a room feels. The purpose of the room is equally important. A patient spending an extended period sitting and talking with a psychologist may have different comfort requirements from someone receiving dental treatment or undergoing a medical procedure.

For these reasons, we generally recommend individual room temperature control where practical. Wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassette systems allow consultation rooms, treatment rooms, offices and staff areas to be controlled independently rather than relying entirely on one central setting for the whole building. Individual systems can also reduce the amount of air shared between separate rooms compared with some central ducted arrangements, although appropriate ventilation and infection-control measures remain essential.

Weekend Electrical installs wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassette units for individual rooms throughout medical and healthcare facilities. We also install dedicated air-conditioning for data and communications rooms, where servers, network equipment, UPS systems and other electrical equipment continuously generate heat. Maintaining a stable temperature in these rooms helps prevent overheating and supports reliable operation of critical communications and IT infrastructure.

For air-conditioning systems supplied by Weekend Electrical, our preferred brand is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. This preference is based on our own installation and service experience with the efficiency, reliability and durability of their systems. Unless the client has selected or supplied another unit, we generally install Mitsubishi Heavy Industries wall-mounted and cassette systems.

By considering room orientation, afternoon sun, occupancy, equipment heat loads, clinical use and individual comfort requirements, we can select and position air-conditioning systems according to the actual needs of each area rather than treating an entire medical facility as one uniform space.
